Where does sustainable start? I was looking into farm raised fish today and it seems they cause problems for wild populations, AND are worse for you. One example I read was about farm raised salmon having almost no Omega-3 and lots of Omega-6.
- cpearce 16y agoMost fish eat smaller fish. So farmed fish are fed fishfood which is made from caught wild fish. It takes something like 5kg of anchovies to make 1kg of farmed salmon. Sustainable fishing means taking less from the sea, adhering to quotas, not continuing to catch species at risk, and setting up sanctuaries where fish stocks can replenish.
