1. Ask for a giant pile of money for the privilege.
2. Come up with visualization that answers their question without giving them access to source code. Presumably "how do we know we can trust results" is a common problem.
3. Walk away.
- smacktoward 9y agoAnd a possible 1a: Tell them you'll be happy to give them your source code, and everything else to boot, if they'll buy your company. This way you get to jump straight to your exit, and can maybe also structure the deal so that you and your employees get jobs at the BigCo (if you want them). Feel free to set the selling price as high as you like -- they would want the deal more than you would, so you have a lot of leverage in the negotiation. And if they balk? Hey, they asked for terms to see the source code, you gave them terms! It's not your fault if they don't like them :-D
- Animats 9y agoGood answer. No, they don't get to see your source code without buying the rights to it. Otherwise you're going to end up in trade secret litigation after they steal something.
- pedrorijo91 9y agomaybe what they want is just white box explanation on your models?
- threeseed 9y agoThis is all it is. I ask for explanations every week from vendors. And everyone here is going on about them wanting to buy the company or acquire licenses to the code. It's just bizarre.
