Show HN: Create instant data back-ends for applications from spreadsheet data
- fiatjaf 9y agoI like these things, the problem is that they all assume your spreadsheet is organized like an SQL table.
- fiatjaf 9y agoOrganizing data in a spreadsheet as if it was an SQL table is not a good idea. In one hand, if you're organized like that, you come up with a schema and follow it, why aren't you using SQL directly? On the other hand, by using spreadsheets as tables you lose 80% of the spreadsheet's flexibility and powers.
- El_Mo 9y agoI presume you are talking about formulas here?
- El_Mo 9y agoActually, it doesn't assume that ;) While you'll generally have a set of rows with a (more or less) consistent set of columns, the parser is capable of detecting blocks within a sheet that have to be treated differently (i.e., they go into a different "table"). This is why we are looking for beta testers - we need more of these scenarios. Care to join?
