I ran a remote web agency for years and sought talent in flyover states. I found employees who were just as talented as those out here in Silicon Valley but just preferred where they lived.
A modest Silicon Valley salary was typically well received since their cost of living was usually much lower.

- Mountain_Skies 9y agoThe agribusiness sector imports huge amounts of immigrant talent far from the coasts. If you're a potential immigrant in tech, you might prefer San Francisco over Omaha but if your potential employer is in Omaha, you're probably going to pick it over staying at home.
