I'm curious about your thoughts on a hypothetical. Imagine we have a person who, from childhood, is given daily observation, care, assessment and treatment by the truly 'best' doctors available -- assuming we were able to develop a means to measure that. But aside from that he would live his life in a relatively average upper class way in terms of diet/nutrition, activity, and so on. What would you expect to change? How would you expect his life expectancy to vary against the general population? What if we take general population to mean the general population of Japan?
This is relevant as I think the views here help determine where the focus in healthcare ought be.
