Unifi kit is, relatively, cheap for managed networking equipment, exact prices will depend on what country you're in. I've got 3 Unifi APs , a 24-port switch and a security gateway. Personally I like managed kit 'cause it provides some insight into whats happening on your network. If you see a slowdown what's causing it, what devices do I have connected etc. Additionally, Ubiquiti has a nice manager interface which makes updating the firmware pretty easy, which is nice security patches are needed and making those easy to apply is a good thing.
