The Verge just named the Samsung S8 the second best phone you can buy right now, after the iPhone X: https://www.theverge.com/2017/7/24/15914934/best-smartphon

Two of the worst quality phones available, as we all now know. This only reflects poorly on The Verge.

Please name the phone that is in your opinion the best quality phone available, to calibrate this statement.

I'm skipping this generation unless I see some compelling reason to upgrade, so I don't know which the best is, but it's hard not to know the worst quality if you're not blinded by fanboyism, with Samsung's consistency in this area and Apple's recent strong showing. Despite always lagging in usefulness, Apple used to have quality control down.

I think, if you paid attention to the other brands, using the same strict criteria you're applying here, you'd decide they were horrible as well, for their own reasons; and, I would guess, probably more horrible than most products by either Samsung or Apple. Something doesn't have to be good in any objective sense, to be the best. If everything is bad, a very bad thing can still be "the best."

Strict criteria? We're talking boot loops, keyboards that replace the letter i, and exploding batteries, just to name some recent examples. I do actual work from my phone, and I wouldn't be able to work under those conditions. I do not have fanboyism to fall back on to feel good about my purchase.

One of those is not like the others.
