  They've announced the majority of cuts involve terminating a few speculative R&D projects and cutting international sales staff. Maya development doesn't seem slow at all. The new UV toolkit in 2018 is pretty great. On the backend, they migrated to Qt 5 last year, and 2018 introduces major changes to the plugin API aiming for greater stability and backward compatibility.
