Quora opens up to search engines tomorrow
- EllieAsksWhy 16y agoWhy would Quora decide to open to search engines? I'd think this would dilute whatever value the site has, given that there are already a glut of Q&A/recommendation sites coming on line. More interesting question: on Jan 11, 2010 Quora (Adam dAngelo) said Quora would open to search engines on August 6, as happened. Yet they were still in private beta then. d'Angelo gives a mildly altruistic reason, wants to share high quality knowledge with the masses. Obviously, I know my way around there a bit. Calibre of content is inconsistent: some is much better than slashdot, some is narrowly focused. Not as dangerous and Hacker News, thankfully. Entire afternoons can be swallowed here...
