Facebook has over 2.7 billion monthly active users [0], that's roughly over a quarter of the world's population [1]. Sure, there are fake and duplicate accounts among those, but it's still quite an impressive number and I struggle to think of anything else which has had similar reach and influence in human history. Add to that the fact that many Facebook users don't even realize they are using the Internet, as to them Facebook is pretty much the whole Internet [2] and I fear the future might be somewhat dystopian.
