You really have to love living in a rural area to be happy there. I grew up in a mid-west city and move to LA when I was 14. I lived in Hollywood, West Hills, and Malibu. I decided to leave when I was 29. The people I knew in LA all thought I was crazy when I told them where I was moving. I researched places to live for a few months before leaving and I've been where I considered the best place to be is since then, for about 25 years now. I moved to a rural area for the same reason "clord" did, "Quality of life". Where one finds that is up to them but that should really be the focus, not a job title or pay.
