I find the Cliqz issue horrifying and am considering Waterfox for similar reasons, but I have to point out that "every 100th download" is a gross misrepresentation - it's an experiment to be tried in "<1% of German users of Firefox" (which is still bad, but a very different thing from every 100th download). According to [this comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/74n0b2/mozilla_ships_cliqz_experiment_in_germany_for_1/do10w4t/ https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/74n0b2/mozilla_shi...), "the experiment can be removed like any addon."
I still find this a very bad sign about the directions they're willing to explore, but it's important to get the accurate scale of the thing.
