The title is a little disingenuous. LED lighting has performed as advertised and expected. The fact that city planners have decided to deploy more lighting because it's now cheaper rather than pocket the savings is not a problem with LED technology. It's more a consequence of good old supply and demand.

- tasty_freeze 9y agoTraffic in a city gets bad; voters are upset at wasting so much time driving. The city raises a bond, builds a couple more lanes, and $400M and two years later, the problem is solved. So those voters move further away from their jobs because they don't care about distance, but commute time, and they move out to their pain threshold because the further you move out, your money buys more house. But everyone does it, and the number of miles driven per person goes up until traffic gets painful again.
