Ask HN: I came across a nasty hack with Amazon and AdWords, should I report it
Today I came across an odd hack involving Amazon and AdWords.
The hack spoofs Amazon domain to get a lower price on Adwords.
They do it in this way, they first obtain a redirect link like the following
http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?_encoding=UTF8&location=http://www.facebook.com/sharethikana/app/190322544333196/&token=6BD0FB927CC51E76FF446584B1040F70EA7E88E1
then they sponsor this link on adWords, adWords believes it's sponsoring Amazon content and give a lower price compared to sponsoring the real website (around 50% less).
Should I report it, and to who?
- HaoZeke 9y agoYou might want to report the site for unfair practices to the domain registrar, and also inform adwords and Amazon as well.. Or you could use the hack on your own sites..
- anonfreelancer 9y agoThe website is Facebook, I can only report the page, but I think Facebook doesn't care
- maury91 9y agoYou can leave a feedback to adwords here https://support.google.com/adwords/contact/cfeedback https://support.google.com/adwords/contact/cfeedback
- anonfreelancer 9y agoReported, but I didn't found how to report to Amazon
- danjoc 9y agoWhy is Amazon offered lower prices vs Facebook? This does not sound Net Neutral to me.
- AznHisoka 9y agoAgreed. I would report this unfairness to them instead. Rather than the original "bug".
