I certainly edit out those silences from my podcast. Often when I'm listening back, those pauses are just too long, especially when you're the only one talking. In regards to speed-listening, I just don't think it's a good idea. If you're rushing through anything (or at least feeling rushed), more often than not, you're not truly enjoying it.
