Can you imagine the panic they must have felt when they realized that there was security flaw in code that hadn't been compiled in 17 years, that they didn't even write, they couldn't find... and they were responsible for fixing?
I would love to read the post mortem.
- poizan42 9y agoProbably not much panic, they have people who do that kind of thing all the time. Ever read Raymond Chen's blog The Old New Thing[0]? https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/oldnewthing/ https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/oldnewthing/
- krylon 9y agoEven for people who do not spend much (or any) time on Windows, this makes for very interesting (and entertaining) reading.
- joering2 9y agoWhy would they panic over 17 years old code? Even installing Windows 10 a week ago it came with ALL CAPS long disclaimer that they are not responsible for any damages to hardware, software caused by this installation.
