Fleas, Fleas, Fleas: on parasites in history
- saiya-jin 9y agoYes there will be some changes in foodchains. So what??? Universe is constantly changing, species come and go. I'll leave my sorrow and conservation efforts for species that directly benefit us and whole environment like bees, and not something that killed hundreds of millions of humans in pretty horrible ways. Also this expects that whatever preys on these parasites will be completely and utterly unable to feed on anything else in environment. Well I consider life much more stubborn and successful. And while we're at it, I would strongly welcome complete extinction of ticks, with same logic as above. And add tse-tse fly. Mosquitoes are also tempting, but since only few types transfer malaria, dengue and yellow fever, I can at least have a discussion about pros&cons (although these days these are by far the biggest human killers from the bunch)
- joshbaptiste 9y agoit's interesting to learn the profound impact a species has (regardless of size) on bio-diversity. While we (Homo-Sapiens) are succeeding as a species, it is at the detriment of many other species and the earth itself.
