Medellín and Bogotá are great but I encourage all to make the trip to the north of the country: I live in Barranquilla, sandwiched between Cartagena and the Sierra Nevada and we have a healthy group of people who contribute to Open Source Software on a regular basis. We have the caribbean beaches right here all year long without leaving the DC/NY/Boston timezone.
- desiderantes 9y agoWhere are this OSS contributors in Barranquilla? I haven't heard of them before. Is there any kind of OSS meetup here?
- ingenieroariel 9y agoThere is Guillermo Iguarán who contributes to Rails. I personally have contributed to several large geospatial projects like GeoNode / GeoServer and Inasafe and bits to other projects like Django/GeoDjango in the past. In retrospect I should have used a different term to differentiate people that are sharing smaller projects with liberal licenses from people who regularly write patches for the linux kernel.
