Last I tried, more that 2 years ago, Ubuntu was able to install on LVM over LUKS over sofware RAID and boot from it in BIOS mode but the result in UEFI mode completed install but didn't boot.
I wonder if that has been fixed.
- josteink 9y agoI’ve UEFI booted Ubuntu from a Linux soft raid without issues. Everything just worked. Don’t quote me on it, but I’m pretty sure that was Ubuntu 14.04.
- kobeya 9y agoUsually it’s because he installer mucks up the crypttab, or doesn’t install mdadm module, or something. And yes, installing with BIOS usually gets it right. But it can be made to work with UEFI.
