Regarding long term care, I have a relative who ended up on disability in their 40s and I pushed them hard to get an appropriate supplemental plan with Medicare to be sure they'd have coverage - eligibility to purchase that coverage is only for 6 months when you first get on disability, then wait until 65. It basically came down to "with your issues, what are the odds you'll need to spend a few weeks in rehab after a bad fall within the next 20-25 years?"
