There are already robots being used for mine sweeping, bomb disposal, nuclear reactor inspection, even mars rovers. They all make do with just wheels, or sometimes rails.
It is not clear if adding legs to the above robots would make them any better.
- brohee 9y agoLegs can access an order of magnitude more terrain than wheels. Think looking for survivors in rubble after an earthquake.
