These companies are indeed taking out patents on methods for how to push people over the edge and nudge them more towards being comfortable taking out their wallet just to have fun in video games. As a gamer, I find this a disgusting perversion of a hobby I've had since a child. Some of you may argue that they've done nothing illegal, but from a more innocent viewpoint, they are taking the most popular themes and IPs and holding them hostage, squeezing them just to pad the bottom line.
