I had a 3-month job search over the last summer, encompassing about 150 contacts which I filtered into roughly 25 actual interviews. It takes an enormous amount of time to deal with all the various interview techniques out there. Such as:
* Four or five-hour interviews.
* Interview prep suggested by recruiters for tech interviews.
* All-day work sessions pairing with employees.
* "Homework" that can take anywhere from 5 hours to days.
* Multiple online sessions, each to solve a tech riddle.
I can't imagine how I could've done this when holding a job at the same time. I'd have to be incredibly picky about who I chose to interview with - which means, I wouldn't have interviewed with my current company because they didn't interest me during the screening, only until after the interview when I got to talk with actual developers.
