I knew a company a bit like this once. The CEO would hire people very quickly. In most cases they didn’t have the appropriate skill set, and had personality issues. They’d have a massive negative impact on the culture of this early stage startup.
They’d then get fired. The CEO would say, it will be better for them in the long term and I’m sure they’ll be happier. This wasn’t true, they had their issues but actually the CEO has screwed them too by not doing the due diligence and hiring too quickly...
Honestly the best solution I can think of is to work as a paid consultant for the company and see how that goes. If the relationship seems to work, then join full time. Not everybody has the time to take on consulting gigs though which is a significant downside.
