I think Alvin Toffler was much better and down to earth when it came to predicting future trends. Kurzweil's ideas are creative and provoking but are more science fiction than futurism. In contrast, Alvin Toffler created a conceptual framework to understand the paradigm shifts of the post industrial age, and so far it is working.
