School should be about a lot more then just the in class learning. While the social things are not as easily defensible, without them a student does not become as well rounded a person.
- rdtsc 16y agoIt is hard to apply those across the board. Perhaps there should be fees associated with participation in any of those extra-currilar socialization events. If the student wants to participate they should pay for it. Other students and their parents shouldn't have to pay to subsidize others' "socialization". I for instance, didn't live on campus. Yet some of my tutition went to paying for various activities and "nice-to-have" social things others did participate in. I would have liked to opt-out and get a cheaper tuition instead.
