I wonder how much of a dent the iPod Touch would put into the numbers if it were counted.
On a related note, it seems an iPod Touch sized clone for Android would be a worthwhile device for a company to make (especially if it fit in all those iPod Touch running armbands). I hear news snippets here and there, but you'd think there would be a worthy competitor at this point... (there could well be one I'm not aware of, but a quick google didn't turn much up).
edit: Samsung YP-MB2 seems to be iPod Touch sized and "coming soon": http://androidcommunity.com/samsung-yp-mb2-poses-for-photo-20100802/ http://androidcommunity.com/samsung-yp-mb2-poses-for-photo-2...
- awad 16y agoI'm totally ignorant of the Android landscape but does it have a music player than can rival the iPod app music + iTunes syncing of an iPod Touch?
- tvon 16y agoI haven't used it myself, but I hear DoubleTwist is a great Android app for music, and the desktop app seems pretty good. Also keep in mind that a lot of people loath iTunes (I think it's great on OSX, but I probably wouldn't want to use it in Windows).
- sandipc 16y agoDefinitely don't think any of the Android music apps are up to the level of the iPhone's iPod app / iPod touch's music app. Apple's UI for that app is beautiful. - a current android user
- ZeroGravitas 16y agoAm I the only one annoyed by the "iPod" App on my iPhone? They really should split that into multiple apps for podcasts, audiobooks, video, music etc. I suppose it just mirrors the confusion of iTunes on the desktop which, despite the name, does a bit of everything these days.
- ElliotH 16y agoI would pay a good price for a decent iPod touch style android tablet. 7" seems to be the pattern which is too big really.
- jrockway 16y agoArchos' first Android tablet was 5". It could use Android 2, but the media-playing capabilities are solid.
- ZeroGravitas 16y agoGoogle was preventing devices without cellphones from accessing their market for apps. Thus one of their big plays to prevent the "fragmentation" boogeyman has, until now, handed a big market to Apple. They seem to be relaxing this for a push into tablets so this area could become interesting in the near future.
