You have the power to leave it. You have chosen not to.
- Sir_Cmpwn 9y agoThis doesn't make any sense. I'm not the one who posted it. It's entirely reasonable for me to implore my fellow readers not to submit/vote on these articles without becoming some kind of hypocrite.
- kgwgk 9y agoYou could use "flag" and "hide", no need to ask for anything.
- songshu 9y agoThat’s fair. You’re not a hypocrite. I’m just not sure commenting on it is effective.
- hungerstrike 9y agoSo, your response is to rudely and ineffectively comment about this allegedly ineffective comment? You're very welcome to leave.
- yellowapple 9y agoIIRC, commenting actually counteracts voting in HN's ranking algorithm.
- dogruck 9y agoYou’re wrong — HN has guidelines: https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html What to Submit On-Topic: Anything that good hackers would find interesting. That includes more than hacking and startups. If you had to reduce it to a sentence, the answer might be: anything that gratifies one's intellectual curiosity. Off-Topic: Most stories about politics, or crime, or sports, unless they're evidence of some interesting new phenomenon. Ideological or political battle or talking points. Videos of pratfalls or disasters, or cute animal pictures. If they'd cover it on TV news, it's probably off-topic.
- songshu 9y agoI didn’t say it was on topic, so I’m not wrong about that.
