Is RSS/Atom sufficiently unpopular that it need somebody stepping up and making a case for it? If so, that makes me sad, I rather like it. I am currently on my fourth iteration of building an RSS reader with a web UI, using a Bayes network to distinguish between interesting and boring articles. It is not very sophisticated, but it works well enough in filtering out the items I do not want to see. Needless to say, this thing relies on RSS to fetch news items. Kind of what it was made for, as far as I could gather.
