There are so many great answers here, but ... As technical folks, we tend to forget that its all about politics and the hidden under-belly of politics is money, lots of it. MS and their consultant partners have a massive vested interest in keeping organisations subservient to their vision of IT. Limux and open source are certainly in the public's better interests, but that runs contrary to the plutocrats' interests. Guess who wins?
