I hate bitter flavors and most beers and diet drinks taste awful to me but I'm no supertaster...my wife who has never been tested for it on the other hand happily eats bitter things and loves beer but can eat a dish and decompose it into constituent ingredients. She definitely has a sharper palate but I'm not sure she'd qualify either. Maybe it's something that's measured on a spectrum?
