It isn't clear that AMD's GPU architecture has been really competing with nvidia. We'll have to see how big a deal this is when AMD's APUs come out. I expect them to be quite a bit better than intels integrated product. This seems to be more of an direct competitive attack on AMDs integrated product than it is competition with nvidia. It feels to me like building discrete GPUs is almost a misdirection.
