I made a tool that can help traders (in cryptocurrency markets) automate their TA based strategies. I am not sure what you consider popular, since this project is definitely in a niche space (so reach is limited). I used to post it here and there, but since it's an open source hobby project I don't feel the need to go out of my way to let new people know about it. 1. I started the project to learn more about automated trading and cryptocurrency markets, and working on it to this day still scratches that itch. 2. Searching Github, Google and Reddit I guess. 3. I used to be quite active on an online forum that was basically the full community (bitcointalk). 4. I do think so yes, it depends on why you are doing open source.
