I think it’s a bit naïve to think that Intel wouldn’t have built this thing, if they didn’t have MINIX as a starting point. They could have used another open source kernel, or a commercial kernel like QNX, or even built their own from scratch. That some people use OSS for nefarious purposes does not mean that we should stop OSS.
