Reflected vs. emitted light.
- kstrauser 9y agoI'm not convinced that's still a relevant distinction. Looking at the OLED screen on an iPhone X, for example, it can be hard to visually tell the difference between screen and paper.
- tjohns 9y agoStill, not everyone is on an OLED screen. Especially on desktops.
- kstrauser 9y agoSure, but a good LCD panel is still a lot closer to paper than any CRT ever way. At the lowest level, the state equations of photons don't include a "reflected" versus "emitted" term.
- shakna 9y agoBut light diffusion is a common part of analysing what an eye sees. Paper has a much larger scattering effect, whereas something backed by a light does not.
