Ask HN: Way to stop click hijack
Hi all,
some sites (eg io9/jalopnik/gizmodo) hijack the default behavior of my clicks. Middle-clicking on a link should (Firefox) open the link in a new tab.
Some sites override this behavior and turn it into a simple click, ie the link is followed in the same tab.
How can I disable this behavior? Ideally a setting in FF, otherwise a bookmarklet would be great. An add-on feels excessive. My search-fu is really letting me down. Grateful for tips.
(PS, I already have bookmarklets for making all text black (ie resolving poor-contrast sites), another to be able to allow selecting text, yet another to allow pasting password into form. If you'd like one, I can paste them below.)
