I'm a physics PhD/software engineer and I would still say that most of my colleagues/fellow students have shown an interest in sports over the years. But personally... it's not for me. I can begin to glimpse what people find so fascinating about it, but I think I'm hardware-incompatible with the pacing of most sports. The exception being olympic events, because they tend to be short and intense.
