I think there is a kind of Goldilocks syndrome that many programmers fall into. The opposite of "too magical" is having to sift through 48 custom implementations in StackOverflow and 192 npm packages to answer questions like "How do I deep clone a POJO?" I hear a lot of developers saying "Ruby/Rails is too constricted". At the same time, I hear a lot of developers saying "Javascript has no clear direction". Well, which bowl of oatmeal will you choose?
