  For smart phones that's usually not an issue. You want the screen to turn off and save power, not display another moving image. But you could imagine that Apple records sub pixel usage and calibrates the display accordingly, so any sub pixels that are over-exposed to could be calibrated accordingly. But that would also mean some color distortion.
