Why do we have to choose one over the other? Why can't we have high quality kernel code AND not alienating contributors?
- toomuchtodo 9y agoBecause enforcing politeness and civility in large groups is impossible without top down leadership enforcing it, which Linus doesn’t appear to want to do. He has chosen code over comfort as the de facto leader of the project.
- rthomas6 9y agoThat's not an argument for why Linus's way is the best way to lead a project, or why we can't have civility and high quality. You just restated what he has chosen to do.
