As a complete guess, I think a clue to what might be missing is in the like/dislike pairings analysis at the end of the article. It wouldn’t surprise me if a lot of the (dis)likes are relative to something else. So, for example, the view on git is relative to svn or cvs. If that is the case then a generally positive outlook (outside certain niches) is less surprising.
