> Be civil. Don't say things you wouldn't say face-to-face. Don't be snarky. Comments should get more civil and substantive, not less, as a topic gets more divisive.
- SolarNet 9y agoPeople are angry - guy who shops at Ikea twice a weak - corporations steal from them, the government is corrupt, and basic human rights continue to erode in this country. Many of them don't have a dollar to spend participating in the modern web because they are too busy paying for basic human rights, like healthcare, information, and clean water. I would say this to your face. I would say what he said to your face. Fuck off with your tone policing [0] of the downtrodden. Oppression makes people angry, if you don't want people to be angry like that then stop oppressing them. [0] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tone_policing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tone_policing
- vintageseltzer 9y ago> Fuck off with your tone policing [0] of the downtrodden. Oppression makes people angry, if you don't want people to be angry like that then stop oppressing them. Take a breath and relax. No one is oppressing you. I simply ask that you adhere to this community's guidelines and use a civil tone.
- randomblob 9y agoYou basically: Please leave me in my elfenbein-tower and keep your rambling about your shitty lives to reddits depression subs. Policy here is to be nice and to say and have nice things. Why don't you have nice things? Sucker... Spot that grain of /s and keep it.
- SolarNet 9y agoIt's not about anyone oppressing anyone here. My reference to oppression was as a society and in general, not to this comment chain. It's about you claiming that being angry about oppression - specifically the dismissal of that oppression as valid - is for some reason disqualifying of the arguments contained with in. It's a fallacy, it's called tone policing, and you are doing it.
- phyzome 9y agoIt's definitely not clear to me that they understand that. shrug
