So.. why hasn't history been updated? Is this super recent or not credible?

  It's never been corroborated - besides photographs of uncertain provenance and this hearsay-of-hearsay memo, the only evidence of Hitler in South America is conspiracy-theory grade. These documents were released to the FBI Vault site in 2015 (although I think they may have been declassified even earlier) and keep reappearing every few years, usually when someone gets the bright idea of reposting them on 4chan.
