Two things:
First find a lawyer whom you trust; have her read drafts of contracts and advise you about the possible consequences of each clause.
Second, find out if there is a SCORE (Senior Core of Retired Executives) chapter in your town, or if there is a small business advisory council or something like that, they can be a good source for finding advisors. You don't need someone who has a deep understanding of your business, but you do need someone who understands how businesses are structured and how to keep them on track. Finding an advisor is a tricky thing, you need someone who can tell you when you are sabotaging your own success in such a way that you will listen to them.
shorter: find trustworthy advisors and listen to them.
