People used to say the same thing about Wintel until the Web appeared.
Not to say his points are wrong just that it lacks some historical perspective.
IMHO, these companies are on the verge of becoming irrelevant actually.

- saas_co_de 9y agoYes, it is just a cycle. Companies create an open platform to get users, then they progressively squeeze the platform for more money degrading experience, some other company creates a new open platform that offers a better experience, rinse, repeat.
