It's 2017, and in the current sociopolitical milieu, it may be regarded as "abuse" to unilaterally remove television from the home against the wishes of your spouse and/or kids. I would love to do this as well, as I harbor an abiding hatred for the passive entertainment industry in general. But it's often not worth the relationship cost.
