NDP have been pushing for no dst in canada recent years Newly appointed NDP premier in BC last week just brought it up again. While I don't agree with current party in power, I would vote for them if they did actually remove the annual time change. Personally I don't care when the sun comes up, and same for most people I know. I begin any day between 5AM-830 AM randomly. I sleep with blackout curtains, the sun is not a factor with my sleep really. I am sure waking kids while it's dark out is rough, but they will adapt... This already happens in the winter months when sunrise may not occur before ~7:45AM in BC

On the solstice in Saskatoon (where they do permanent DST), sunrise occurs at around 9:15am. That's the extreme case, but the point is there is a province that's doing this. Hopefully somebody is comparing Saskatchewan's winter commutes to its neighbors.
