I don't understand why they not just farm amaranth (pig weed). it's a healthy nutritious crop, regarded as food in other countries and the palmer amaranth especially is very drought resistant and resilient. but because soy and corn is more profitable in the US they undergoe so much trouble to kill what would otherwise considered to be a perfect choice of crop.
