I upvoted this article because it describes a problem on college campuses that I have only become aware of recently. That said, it misrepresents the Berkeley riots in a deceptive way. The rioters were not students; they were masked, black-clad members of Antifa and a movement called Black Bloc. I sympathize with journalists’ struggle to provide a coherent narrative, but rewriting history only serves to weaken the author’s point by anyone with first or secondhand knowledge of the events described in the article.
