Take Kansas. If in theory I'm making 100k and we're playing the "low taxes" game I'd probably be fine financially, but I think it would come at the cost of... well, a few things. School quality, for one- if I have kids are they going to be better educated in NJ/NY (where I am now) than Kansas?
- ghaff 9y agoCompared to NYC public schools? You’d probably do quite well unless your kid got into one of the especially good ones in NYC. Schools are a big part of why families move out of the city.
- camiller 9y agoWell, Kansas ranks higher than NY but lower than NJ in Pre-K - 12 and higher than either in Higher Education acording to USNews. https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/rankings/education https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/rankings/education (note the sortable columns in the table) Of course I'm happy to point out that Nebraska ranks higher than Kansas on either scale.
